CAD-tools

To be able to develop projects on your GECKO5Education/Modular several open-source projects are used, namely:

• Ghdl, an open-source VHDL-simulator.

• iverilog or Verilator, open-source (System) Verilog simulators.

• gtkwave, an open-source wave viewer.

• yosys, an open-source synthesis suite.

• nextpnr-ecp5, an open-source portable FPGA place and route tool.

• project trellis, open-source documentation and utilities for the ECP5-FPGA famely of Latice.

• openFPGALoader, an open-source universal utility for programming FPGA’s.

All these tools can be used on Windows, linux, and macOS. Refer to the section of your operation system on how to install the tools.
